The Maldives achieved a significant milestone in August 2024, welcoming over 100,000 tourists. This marks a remarkable 14.9% growth compared to the same period last year. The surge in tourist arrivals is a testament to the Maldives’ unwavering appeal as a top-notch tourist destination.
The Ministry of Tourism attributed this growth to several factors, including the government’s ongoing efforts to promote the Maldives as a safe and attractive destination. The country’s renowned coralline beaches, crystal-clear waters, and luxurious resorts continue to draw visitors from around the globe. Currently, over 150 islands in the archipelago are resort islands, including several 5-star properties like Coco Bodu Hithi, offering guests a chance to enjoy a secluded paradise from a Maldives luxury villa or beach bungalow.
This positive development is expected to further boost the Maldivian economy and create more employment opportunities in the tourism sector. The Maldives remains committed to providing exceptional experiences to its visitors while prioritising sustainable tourism practices.
