Australia Set to Reopen Borders by Christmas – Nation’s Vaccination Rate a Key Factor

Australia is on track to reopen its borders by Christmas at the very latest; this was a statement made by Dan Tehan, the country’s Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment at an online talk on 22nd September 2021. Quoted on the CNN news website, the minister went on to say that achieving an 80% national vaccination rate was amongst the key factors if the borders are to reopen as planned. In line with this objective, on 16th August 2021, the country launched the “It’s Our Best Shot for Travel” campaign to encourage more people to get vaccinated.

Australia is also set to test “vaccine passports” with nations like the United States and Singapore; once the borders reopen, only fully vaccinated international travellers will initially be granted entry. All this comes as good news to popular tourist destinations such as Melbourne that offer safe accommodation options too; be it at a city centre residence or a Box Hill hotel including the likes of Avani Melbourne Box Hill Residences, travellers can look forward to worry-free holidays here.
