Bangladesh to Develop Master Plan to Promote Tourism – China to Provide Key Support

A master plan to make use of the nation’s resources and promote tourism is being developed in Bangladesh with the support of China; this was brought into the spotlight on the China Daily news website on 21st January 2023 which further revealed that the Bangladeshi government is looking to create specialised tourism zones. The master plan which is in the process of being formulated is expected to be approved later this year, possibly in June or July. It will give the local tourism industry an added boost following the lifting of pandemic-related restrictions for international travellers in September last year.

Amongst the initiatives will be a focus on improving infrastructure to support the tourism industry. China is expected to play a major role in aiding this which can already be seen in the Padma Bridge and Padma Bridge Rail Link project by Chinese companies; this infrastructure development has helped cut down on travel time between southern Bangladesh and the capital where tourists can stay at a hotel in Dhaka which offers safe accommodation for business or leisure. This includes properties like Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka which provides an ideal base from which to experience the best of the city along with upcoming initiatives in the tourism sector.
