The most recent celebration was held in December, at multiple beaches in Ubud, less than one and a half hours away from many a Bali Kuta resort, such as the renowned Holiday Inn Resort Baruna Bali.
The term Banyu Pinaruh is derived from two words; Banyuh means ‘holy waters’ and Pinaruhmeans ‘knowledge’. Basically, the locals celebrate sacred waters of knowledge. Locals gather at river banks, shores of the lake and at beaches in the early morning, and they take a bath at these locations which are said to rejuvenate the body and get rid of the dull feeling that comes from day to day activities.
