Bappenas supports private financing scheme for Bintan’s green circuit – Another strategy for Tourism

National Development Planning Minister/National Development Planning Board (Bappenas) Head, Suharso Monoarfa, expressed his full support for the construction of the International Green Circuit in Bintan, Riau Islands Province. The minister believes that the circuit, funded through private investment, will contribute to national and international racing events such as Formula 1. He emphasized that the mega sports event should serve as a tourism growth pole, attracting visitors to the circuit as one of the best Bintan Island things to do for motorsports lovers.

Bintan’s strategic location near Singapore and Malaysia adds to its market potential. To ensure long-term sustainability, the event should target high-spending tourists staying at hotels like The Residence Bintan. Monoarfa highlighted the economic benefits brought by the Mandalika MotoGP, including increased government spending on infrastructure, circuit investments, accommodation demand, tax revenue, business expansion, and job opportunities. These benefits led to a significant growth rate in the Gross Regional Domestic Product (PDRB) of the NTB Province.
