Al Barid Bank, a leading Moroccan bank, has partnered with global digital payments leader Visa to promote financial inclusion among women, artisans, entrepreneurs, and cooperatives in Morocco. The two entities signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the aim of providing training and support to these communities, helping them integrate into the financial and banking ecosystem. Through this partnership, Visa and Al Barid Bank will organize training courses throughout the year, focusing on artisans, small traditional businesses, and self-employed individuals, particularly women and young entrepreneurs. The joint action plan includes initiatives to raise awareness and provide coaching on financial practices and tools to ensure project development and sustainability.
Al Barid Bank’s Chairman of the Board, Al-Amine Nejjar, expressed his satisfaction with partnering with Visa to contribute to local economic development for the benefit of the targeted populations. Meanwhile, Leila Serhan, Senior Vice President of Visa’s North Africa, Levant, and Pakistan region, emphasized Visa’s commitment to supporting Morocco’s financial inclusion efforts across all segments. The collaboration aims to help local entrepreneurs and artisans enhance their skills and adopt innovative digital tools to strengthen their businesses. This partnership builds upon their previous joint initiatives during Global Money Week, where training sessions were conducted to promote financial inclusion among local artisans in Casablanca, Fez, and Safi.
