Bazaruto, Mozambique: “A Beautiful African Paradise Most Tourists Don’t Know About”

According to CNN Travel, the archipelago of Bazaruto is an “almost famous” paradise – home to white crescent beaches, a national park, and rare marine life, the main island is not nearly as popular of a destination as Mauritius or Seychelles for an African Island escape. The publication recommends the Bazaruto islands, or Ihlas de Bazaruto, as an ideal retreat for tourists looking to experience Coastal Africa away from crowded locations.

Bazaruto stuns with expansive natural landscapes and sites, including a horde of observable fauna. Nestled among the coastal dunes, the Bazaruto Archipelago National Park is inhabited by unique indigenous wildlife, including sea turtles, crocodiles, birds, and East African Manitees. Amidst the large sand dunes, the islands also host several freshwater lakes and a lagoon, stocked with their own freshwater wildlife.

Considering its distinctive environment, the cluster of five islands is the ultimate getaway for nature enthusiasts. Expeditions on land and out at sea are provided by most Mozambique luxury beach resortslocated on the islands, including sailing and dune exploration. Anantara Bazaruto Island Resort, on the edge of the main island, offers packages for snorkelling, diving, and whale watching, as well as sunset dune boarding.
