Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway – A New Era in Southern India’s Connectivity
In November 2024, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) announced the opening of a crucial 71-kilometre section of the Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway in Karnataka, representing a significant milestone in the ₹17,900 crore project. Spanning 260 kilometres in total, this greenfield expressway—the first of its kind in South India—aimed to cut travel time between Bengaluru and Chennai from seven hours to just three. The Karnataka section overcame delays caused by the relocation of a temple near Hoskote, with the remaining 400 metres completed swiftly before the end of the month.
This expressway not only connected the three states of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu but also enhanced regional travel convenience. Travellers could opt for serviced apartments in Chennai the likes of Somerset Greenways Chennai, for comfortable stays, further supporting seamless journeys and modern, efficient travel between these bustling cities.
