Borders Reopened in Thailand for Vaccinated Tourists – Hopes for Increased Arrivals

Beginning 1st November 2021, Thailand reopened its borders with fully vaccinated tourists from an approved list of countries and regions being able to enjoy quarantine-free entry. Such travellers come under the “Test & Go” programme and must take a COVID-19 PCR test on arrival and if it’s negative, they are free to travel around the country. Till the test result comes in, they must stay at an SHA Extra+ certified property like Avani Sukhumvit Bangkok Hotel which ensures safe accommodation and features special packages too.

Most fully vaccinated tourists not on this list can head to one of 17 ‘Blue Zone’ provinces where they can get around within approved areas; after seven days and if the two PCR tests administered during this time are negative, they are free to travel anywhere else. Amongst the ‘Blue Zone’ destinations is the capital, Bangkok, which offers SHA Extra+ certified Sukhumvit hotel options. While it will be hoped that Thailand will see an increase in arrivals during the Christmas season, tourists should also check for the latest updates and guidelines before travelling.
