At a recently held discussion about Botswana’s Tourism Industry, Joy Kenewendo- the Minister of the Investment, Trade, and Industry stated that the decision that they recently took to reintroduce elephant hunting in the country has not adversely affected its tourism industry, but has helped in protecting the people and the environment. Watching elephants in their natural habitats is one of the many things to do In Gaborone and experts express that this decision is not acceptable no matter what.

According to statistics derived from popular tourist resorts such as Avani Gaborone Resort & Casino majority of tourists who arrive at them have directly requested to see the elephants in the form of photographic safaris and it is the opinion of the experts that this short-sighted decision will bring bad luck for the US$ 2 billion tourism industry of the country.
