Widely known as ”Bradby” – the Bradby Shield encounter is one of the country’s most anticipated rugby leagues. The 1st leg of the 73rd encounter kicked off at the Pallekele stadium (Home ground of Trinity College Kandy) on the 20th of May with Royal College clinching victory against Trinity with a score of 22-17. The encounter which is held every year with the participation of a huge crowd from both the schools is filled with so many fun activities. There’s many a hotel in Kandy that’s close to the venue like the Hotel Hilltop Kandy, so when you feeling like going for the match next year, you face any difficulty in finding good accommodation nearby. Royal and Trinity are two of the leading elite schools in Sri Lanka to take up the sport of rugby to tie and nurture bonds among them. First played in 1920, Royalists and Trinities take pride in hosting it every year without interruptions. The encounter will return to Colombo on 3rd of June, 2017 for its second leg.
