Cambodia Welcomes Global Airlines Again – Chinese Flights to Siem Reap Also Resume

Providing a boost to the local tourism industry, Cambodia has seen many global airlines resuming and adding flights to several destinations in the country as highlighted on the Asian Aviation website on 20th March 2023; it went on to reveal that the lifting of COVID-related travel restrictions by China was important too since it is a key source market for tourism in Cambodia. On 3rd March this year, the first flight from China to the country following the resumption of travel was celebrated as China Eastern Airlines resumed services to Siem Reap.

The flight which arrived from Shanghai was carrying around 132 Chinese travellers and landed at the Siem Reap International Airport, where passengers were given a warm welcome. This part of the country continues to be a major draw due to attractions like Angkor Wat located near properties such as Anantara Angkor Resort; for those based at such a well-placed boutique hotel, Siem Reap can be easily explored and experienced. Additionally, there are also flights linking Beijing and Phnom Penh, Shenzhen and Phnom Penh and Kunming and Sihanoukville, while two airlines from Indonesia are looking into offering connections to Cambodia as well.
