Cambodians Revel in the Now Tourist-Free Angkor Wat

The Angkor Wat has long been Cambodia’s star attraction. This massive temple complex has drawn in tourists from all across the globe and left them awe-inspired and mesmerised. However, for the first time in decades, the Angkor Wat has been rendered an almost tourist-free site! Indeed, the worldwide COVID-19 Pandemic has left its mark on this famous location. However, this has presented the people of Cambodia with an opportunity to reclaim their ancient heritage and bask in the sight of the magnificent Wat all by themselves!

This is one of the few rare chances Cambodians will get to experience the serene beauty of the Angkor Wat in relative peace and seclusion. As such, if by any chance you’re staying at one of the boutique hotels in Siem Reap – for example, the Anantara Angkor Resort – be sure to make a stop at this historic site.
