Cherry Blossom Season

Cherry Blossom Season in Japan Ends – Festivals & Celebrations Held Across the Nation

In Japan, the famed cherry blossom season ended in April this year; what made it extra special in 2023 was that in many places, public events and festivals were permitted for the first time since the pandemic. This year’s blooming of cherry blossoms was officially announced on 14th March in Tokyo which marked one of the earliest starts to the season. In the city, hanami picnics were permitted at city parks for the first time in four years, while the Meguro River Sakura Festival was also held.

Other destinations in Japan also celebrated the cherry blossom season depending on the time that the flowers bloomed. This included Osaka, one of the best places to visit during the season which ran from 19th March to 2nd April this year. Among the key places people visited here to see cherry blossom trees in full bloom were Kema Sakuranomiya Park and Osaka Castle within easy reach of properties like Travelodge Honmachi Osaka. For those based at such a family hotel, Osaka was also the ideal city to enjoy various events including the Sakura Festival at the Expo 70 Commemorative Park from 17th March to 9th April 2023.
