Chiang Mai Airport: Expansion Plan Moves Ahead!

Airports of Thailand Plc (AOT) has launched an ambitious 10-year development plan for Chiang Mai International Airport (CNX), marking a significant milestone in the region’s aviation sector. Top AOT executives and Chiang Mai airport officials convened at the Wintree City Resort in Chiang Mai City for the project’s official launch on August 24th.

The seminar addressed the project’s objectives, timeframes, and opportunities for stakeholders and potential investors. Chiang Mai International Airport’s Deputy Director, Sarayuth Jampa, led these discussions. Notably, Chinese tourists comprise a significant portion of the airport’s foreign arrivals, reflecting their substantial impact on Thailand’s tourism sector. Luxury hotels in Chiang Mai and other famous cities have seen a substantial boost in arrivals, with resorts such as Anantara Chiang Mai Resort leading the charge. AOT has divided the expansion project into two phases, encompassing feasibility studies, environmental assessments, construction, and facility enhancements.
