The Mueang District in Thailand once again hosted the Chiang Mai Chinatown Festival. The colourful festival, now in its 16th edition, strongly showcased the culture of the Chinese community living in the city. The opening ceremony of the festival and the ensuing show was attended by Chinese and Thai guests alike on the 16th of February 2018 at the Main Grounds in Wichayanon Road.
Performances included dancing dragons and lions, a Chinese opera and various other interesting activities which highlighted the cultural practices of the Chinese community. Acrobatics were also performed by a troupe from Hainan, while a Miss Chinatown, beauty pageant was hosted too. Many food stalls and kiosks sold various Chinese delicacies and signature dishes which were enjoyed by everyone.
