In February this year, China and Cambodia held a forum which focused on aspects such as tourism, industry, and agriculture. This meeting which took place in Beijing’s Diaoyutai State Guesthouse provided a platform for both nations to discuss ways in which investors and enterprises could be provided with more opportunities including for tourism. China is an important tourism source market for Cambodia which is looking to welcome more Chinese visitors this year.
To help boost tourism, China and Cambodia are looking to increase flights between them as well; this was brought to light on The Phnom Penh Post news website on 26th April 2023 which revealed that plans are underway to have at least 300 direct commercial flights between the two countries per week. This came in the wake of the Civil Aviation Administration of China and Cambodia’s State Secretariat of Civil Aviation signing an agreement regarding aviation safety in April this year. Since reopening its borders, the country has seen a steady increase in tourists who can enjoy safe accommodation at key hotels; Siem Reap Cambodia continues to be a popular destination of choice, home to the famed Angkor Wat near properties like FCC Angkor as well as other historical and cultural attractions.
