China Could Ease Travel Restrictions This Year – An Optimistic Outlook for 2022

Speaking last December, Jianzhang Liang, the co-founder and Executive Chairman of the Trip.com Group, said that he believed that outbound and inbound travel restrictions may be relaxed in the second half of this year. While the financial results of the Trip.com Group, the largest online travel agency in China, were affected by the pandemic and natural disasters in the country, it remains optimistic for an improved 2022.

While it waits to draw international visitors once borders begin to reopen, China has seen its tourism industry recover somewhat driven by domestic travel with “staycations” being a popular option. With strict health protocols in place, the country will hope to boost tourism recovery even more during 2022 and is providing safe accommodation as well in key destinations like Xian; hotels in its city centre near the Ancient City Wall such as Grand Park Xian provide an ideal base for business or leisure which is bound to attract more travellers too.
