As highlighted recently by China Daily, the national carbon market in China celebrated its first anniversary in 2022. According to the Ministry of Ecology and Environment in China, the national exchange for carbon emissions trading involves over 4.5 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide annually and more than 2,000 companies that come under the power sector. Another significant fact is that it has replaced the EU ETS or European Union Emissions Trading System as the largest carbon trading system by coverage in the world.
An integral step towards climate action and meeting the country’s green goals, the national carbon market in China is an important aspect of what is known as “emissions trading”; this is linked to the low-carbon transition campaign that countries are looking to follow as they target to limit and control emissions. Those visiting China can do their bit to help the environment and reduce carbon emissions as well; for example, when it comes to Xian hotels, travellers can stay at city centre properties from where they can walk to key attractions and easily make use of public transport. Options include Grand Park Xian that’s within walking distance from the ancient City Wall and the Yongningmen Metro Station, while it has Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations at its car park as well.
