China is expanding its experiences for tourists, with new and innovative strides in Smart Tourism. These rapid technological advancements have contributed to both convenient and immersive experiences, offering helpful guides for navigation, real-time translation, and unique attractions showcasing the country’s rich culture.
Referred to as “Digital Cultural Tourism” this new integration of cultural experiences into tech has generated a revenue of over 1 trillion Yuan, and currently comprises 30% of the cultural tourism sector. Popular tourist destinations have begun introducing experiences such as virtual reality tours, and intelligent “travel companions” at conventions and expos around the country. The 2024 China Culture & Tourism Industries Exposition, for instance, showcased intelligent booths providing travel guidance to tourists upon request, fully curating the experience to the specific traveller’s needs and destination inquiries. Conveniently held only a short distance from 5 star hotels in Tianjin, including internationally renowned properties such as Pan Pacific Tianjin, the expo featured 2000+ enterprises across 4 days.
