Generally, wherever there is a major Chinese presence, usually in the form of a Chinatown, the new year celebrations will be sure to take place. The lead up to the new year will involve explosions of colour and the presence of various decorations, with the most initial ones being spring couplets (known as chunlian) being posted on door posts. The general exclamations that are given out roughly translate to ‘congratulations, make money’, and it is customary for friends and colleagues to gift red envelopes containing money to each other.

All the factors associated from fireworks, to temple fairs and of the New Year’s Eve dinner, the incredible phenomenon that is something surely to not be missed.
