Chinese tourists visiting Thailand increase – More opportunities for Thailand

The steady increase in Chinese tourists visiting Thailand is seen as a positive sign for the Thai tourism industry and the overall economy, according to a Thai expert. In the period from January 1st to April 23rd, over 737,000 Chinese tourists arrived in Thailand, marking a significant increase compared to the same period last year. This surge in arrivals followed the optimisation of COVID-19 restrictions in China. The \ average of Chinese tourist arrivals on a daily basis is around 10,000, and this trend is said to continue.

The expert predicts that the number of Chinese tourists in 2023 will surpass that of any other nationality, as it was before the pandemic. However, the preferences of Chinese tourists have evolved, with a growing preference for local food, fashion, and visiting new travel destinations. Thailand has implemented measures to attract Chinese tourists, such as offering visa-on-arrival and increasing international flights. SAii Koh Samui and many other Koh Samui 5 star hotels offer special hotel deals as well. As long as Thailand provides valuable products and services, Chinese tourists are likely to continue being drawn to the country, especially considering the high costs of long-haul travel.
