Cinnamon Brand Focuses on Sustainability in Maldives – Redefining Eco-friendly Getaways

Taking another pivotal step to ensure that sustainability initiatives are adopted at its properties, the Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts hospitality brand recently announced that Sri Lankan Tharushi Pitigala would be the chain’s first-ever marine biologist. This was put in the spotlight in January this year on the EIN Presswire website which went on to reveal that she will be overlooking projects at all four resorts in Maldives that belong to the brand; special attention will also be given to ocean conservation efforts led by Ellaidhoo Maldives by Cinnamon.

Apart from running sustainable hotels in Sri Lanka, the Cinnamon brand has ensured that its properties in Maldives also follow such practices; all four resorts have received Travel Life Gold Certification highlighting their green initiatives and continue to play an important role in aiding the preservation of coral reefs as well. Additionally, these four properties have fully eradicated single-use plastics and adopted recycling programmes, while continuing to promote responsible water conservation and waste management. Other noteworthy aspects include the deployment of reef cubes to help marine habitats thrive, conducting complete biodiversity assessments, collecting ocean data and working together with the Maldivian government to aid in conservation efforts.
