“Clean Cities, Blue Ocean” Program in Sri Lanka by the United States – Cleanliness is a priority

The oceans are important to the entire world and Sri Lanka wants to put in the effort to preserve the waters that surround the island as well. Currently, the waters are being polluted with garbage being dumped into the sea. Plastic is a major issue as well. Sri Lanka now seeks to find a solution for an environmentally friendly method for the disposal of waste.

The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce is looking into ways to bring in a partnership between the 0public and private sector in order to allow manufacturers to take responsibility for their waste. The U.S. Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Alaina B. Teplitz awarded the country a grant of $345,000 for the purpose of keeping the cities and oceans clean. This way many a beach hotel in Sri Lanka will start focusing on keeping their shores clean as well, KK Beach is one of them.
