Not that one requires a reason to visit Galle, but the coastal town just got even more attractive for art lovers.
During the month of January the annual Galle Literary Festival took place and this time local poet Grace Wickremasinghe and writer Dom Mee joined forces to put together an event to encourage the young talent in Sri Lanka.
The Cockerel Fringe Festival took place during the 13th-14th January 2017 at the Mercmarine Training Institute. The odd-sounding name of the festival stems from the fact that the event coincided with the beginning of the Year of the Rooster.
The purpose behind the event was to provide a platform for young, amateur artists to showcase their talent. Groups of artists and friends found renting a villa in Galle one of the better options for accommodation, with properties such as the Mosvold Villa and others available at reasonable rates.
