The much-anticipated Readers’ Choice Awards 2020 by Conde Nast Traveller came out last month and Sri Lanka ranked second in the coveted “Top 20 Countries in the World” category. This was a notable achievement since the country has been closed for tourists for most of the year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The award which is based on voting shows just how popular travel to Sri Lanka is. Though the airport remains closed at present, it is hoped it will open soon and online resources like Truly Sri Lanka offer tourists a chance to glimpse the many exciting experiences that await.

The number one ranking of the “Top 20 Countries in the World” went to Italy which garnered 94.05 points narrowly beating Sri Lanka which had a total of 93.96 points. The other three countries that made up the top five were Portugal, Japan and Greece which came in third, fourth and fifth place respectively.
