Published in October, the Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards 2020 included a top spot ranking for the Bazaruto Archipelago in Mozambique; amongst the list of winners for the “Top Islands in the World”, it came in first place under the category “Africa & The Indian Ocean”. Featuring a national park and marine reserve, the archipelago has six islands and is home to properties the likes of Anantara Bazaruto Island Resort. Ideal for romantic or adventure-filled escapes in Mozambique, beach hotels here let guests enjoy secluded shorelines and activities like snorkelling, diving, dune boarding and spotting migrating humpback whales.
In the ranking for the best island in its category, the Bazaruto Archipelago received 97.36 points, narrowly edging out Tanzania’s Mnemba Island which garnered 97.00 points. The Maldives, Seychelles and Mauritius came in third, fourth and fifth place respectively.
