COVID-19 insurance is mandatory for all arrivals – Sri Lanka’s proactive measure to dealing with the pandemic

All visitors to Sri Lanka need to carry travel insurance with medical coverage up to USD 50,000. The Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka revised the rules and stated that travel insurance is mandatory unless you are a Sri Lankan citizen traveling to Sri Lanka.

While you do not have to have travel insurance to board the plane, you need to have one before leaving the airport in Sri Lanka. Travel insurance can be bought online from www.portal.online.lk/covidinsurance. On a different note, CAASL also announced that travellers who were not able to purchase Electronic Travel Authorisation, due to the system being upgraded, will be issued an ETA on arrival. The country is still reeling from the shock of the pandemic, although the best resorts in Sri Lanka have once again become the popular choice among travellers, and hotel brands like Browns Hotels & Resorts have revived their business.
