Cruise Liner Arrivals to Boost Tourism in Koh Samui – Increased Spending Also Expected

Koh Samui is gearing up for a major boost in tourism in 2024 as a significant number of cruise liners are expected to arrive at this popular island in Thailand. Currently, 47 cruise liners are scheduled to dock here within the year, bringing with them, at least 25,000 tourists. This was highlighted by the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s director for Koh Samui, Kanokkittika Kritwuthikorn, this month; it was further revealed that most of these travellers will be from countries such as Australia and the United States as well as nations from Europe.

With the prospect of more cruise liner arrivals throughout 2024, the island can look forward to increased visitor spending as well, which will further boost the local economy. It is not just such tourists who will be arriving in greater numbers as travellers from across the world are also flying in to enjoy extended getaways at Koh Samui hotels in Chaweng. This popular coastal locale is home to key accommodation providers like Avani Chaweng Samui Hotel & Beach Club that continue to offer the best of this destination which has returned to pre-pandemic tourism levels.
