Dire Need for Cambodian Education Reform – Preparing Youth Post Pandemic Future

In the face of the pandemic, it was not only the Cambodian economy but the system of education which was disrupted. The stresses faced by the economy meant the country had no choice but to re-evaluate its approach to educating its youth along with the diversification of its industries. This was essential for the sake of remaining competitive in the Asian market and also attracting foreign investment to the nation.

While boutique hotels in Siem Reap such as the Anantara Angkor Resort have attracted many tourists visiting the Angor Wat Temple Complex, Cambodia has realized it cannot rely solely on tourism. Industries such as e-commerce, fintech, medical device and equipment manufacturing, agro-processing, and the likes must grow. To meet the demands of diversification, a youth who will grow into being in the workforce will need to be educated, thus making it imperative that these reforms are drawn up and implemented.
