A celebration where light conquers darkness across cultures and continents

Diwali, also known as Deepavali in Southern India, once again brightened homes and hearts across Asia in 2025. The five-day Festival of Lights symbolised the victory of good over evil and light over darkness. Streets and temples glowed with lanterns, while families lit diyas, exchanged sweets, and settled old disputes in a spirit of renewal.

The celebration, deeply rooted in Hindu traditions, also held meaning for Sikhs and Jains. Across South Asia, travellers enjoyed the festive atmosphere while luxury hotels in Sri Lanka created elegant spaces to celebrate the season. Establishments such as Mandara Hotels & Resorts embraced the cultural spirit, offering guests warmth and charm throughout the holiday period.
