A rising tide of travellers brings new promise to Sri Lanka’s tourism revival

Sri Lanka’s tourism sector continues to show remarkable strength in 2025, with foreign arrivals rising steadily across the first nine months of the year. Recent figures highlight the United Kingdom as the island’s fastest-growing long-haul market, now second only to India in total arrivals.

This strong performance reflects improved connectivity, relaxed visa policies, and renewed global confidence in Sri Lanka as a safe, diverse destination. With over 1.69 million international visitors recorded by September, the country is on track to meet its target of three million arrivals by year’s end.

The central highlands, including areas near hotels and holiday bungalows like Mandara Ridge Haputale, are noted for their scenic landscapes and cultural sites, making them among the notable Haputale places to visit for those exploring the region.
