Domestic air travel in Bangladesh back to pre-pandemic levels – On the way to a full-scale recovery

Although the International Air Transport Association (IATA) predicts that global air traffic will not come back to pre-pandemic levels until 2024, the domestic air traffic in Bangladesh has been able to make a difference. The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) recently stated that domestic air travel within the country has increased by 75% -80% during October-November 2020.

Hotels in Dhaka the likes of Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka which used to get more international tourists rather than locals, now get more bookings from the local travellers and they see it as a good sign in terms of developing local tourism. The government, in the future, will consider reducing the fuel prices and developing the infrastructure, so that domestic tourism is allowed to grow more following this trend.
