Dubai Airport Hosted Nearly 87 Million Travelers Last Year: Post-Pandemic Recovery Continues Strong
Dubai International Airport (DXB) is experiencing a significant rebound in the post-pandemic world. In 2023, nearly 87 million travellers passed through DXB, solidifying its position as a leading international air travel hub. This number, while not quite reaching its pre-pandemic peak of 89 million in 2018, still represents a substantial increase from the 66 million passengers recorded in 2022.
Dubai Airport CEO Paul Griffiths attributes the airport’s success to technology investments and dedicated staff. DXB’s biggest markets include India, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, and Pakistan. Despite the war in Ukraine, the airport services airlines based in Russia. Dubai’s early reopening post-pandemic has boosted its economy, especially in air travel. CEO Griffiths suggests that a new airport may be needed in the future to accommodate growth. DXB currently connects to 262 destinations across 104 countries, with its inflow continuing to rise as Dubai’s popularity grows, with visitors experiencing the emirate at its finest from a Dubai city hotel the likes of Avani Ibn Battuta Dubai Hotel.
