Dubai Airport pulls ahead for Accessibility – Being the first to earn Certified Status

Dubai International Airport (DXB) has achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first international airport to receive the Certified Autism Centre (CAC) designation from the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES). This accomplishment underscores Dubai Airports’ commitment to enhancing the travel experience for individuals with disabilities, aligning with Dubai’s goal of becoming a Certified Autism Destination.

The certification followed a thorough on-site assessment of all three terminals conducted by IBCCES, during which the Sunflower Lanyard Programme was highlighted. This program discreetly identifies and aids People of Determination (POD) guests, providing prioritized routes for various checkpoints. In addition, a tailored hidden disability service training initiative, part of the ‘We all meet the world differently’ campaign, was introduced, reaching 33,000 airport staff. This milestone itself sets the stage for other businesses in Dubai, such as any Dubai city hotel or perhaps a more definitive offering found at the Avani Ibn Battuta Hotel.
