Dubai World Trade Centre Drives Economic Growth with AED 18.3 Billion Output – Boosting Dubai’s Economy Through Events

Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) has significantly bolstered Dubai’s economy with a total output of AED 18.3 billion in 2023 from its large-scale events. Of this amount, AED 10.5 billion was contributed as Gross Value Added (GVA) to Dubai’s GDP. The 2023 Economic Impact Assessment (EIA) Annual Report noted that 76 major events, such as exhibitions, industry conferences, and international conventions, accounted for 58% of the overall economic output. These events created 69,281 jobs and produced AED 3.36 billion in disposable income.

With 1.54 million participants, 46% being international visitors, foreign attendance increased by 53% year-on-year. This surge reinforced Dubai’s prominence in the global business landscape. His Excellency Helal Saeed Almarri, Director General of the DWTC Authority, emphasised DWTC’s role in supporting Dubai’s Economic Agenda D33, aiming to position Dubai among the top three global destinations for business and travel by 2033.

Increased spending from international visitors benefited sectors such as hotel accommodation, air travel, local transport, retail, and restaurants, generating over AED 10.81 billion in direct revenue. Major events like GITEX Global and Gulfood alone generated AED 7.22 billion in economic output.
