DXB’s Record-Breaking First Quarter: A Milestone for Dubai’s Economy
Dubai International (DXB) celebrated its busiest quarter ever, underscoring its role as a global aviation hub and a key economic driver for Dubai. In Q1, DXB saw a remarkable surge with 23 million passengers, an 8.4% increase from the previous year. This growth highlights DXB’s appeal and its crucial contribution to Dubai’s tourism and trade sectors. The busiest month was January, with 7.9 million passengers.
Paul Griffiths, CEO of DXB, emphasised the airport’s growth, attributed to the expanding networks of Emirates and flydubai. He projects an optimistic outlook for the year, revising the forecast to 91 million guests. DXB’s extensive connectivity, linking 256 destinations in 102 countries, reinforces Dubai’s position as a global business and logistics hub. This success is further supported by the city’s dynamic hospitality sector, including the top luxury hotels in Dubai such as the lavish Oaks Ibn Battuta Gate Dubai hotel.
