Early 2024 Records 14% Increase in Tourist Arrivals to the Maldives – Maldives Tourism Boom
The Maldives is basking in the sunshine of a tourism boom! Early 2024 saw a surge of visitors, with a remarkable 14.84% increase compared to the same period in 2023. This translates to over 409,777 tourists flocking to the island paradise between January and February, a significant jump from the 350,414 visitors the year before.
February itself set a new record, welcoming over 200,000 tourists for the first time ever. This represents a 22.2% year-on-year increase, highlighting the growing popularity of Maldives beach resorts the likes of Hard Rock Hotel Maldives. While there was a decline in visitors from India, traditionally a major source market, the Maldives has successfully diversified its appeal. This is evident in the overall tourist number growth, showcasing the allure of the Maldives for a wider range of international travellers seeking an idyllic escape.
