The recently held 2017 King’s Cup Elephant Polo Tournament featured about 30 elephants playing polo to raise money to save its own kind. The event took place on Thursday, the 9th of March 2017 in Bangkok. The tournament is held annually in Thailand with the aim of raising money to elephant related projects. First played at Hua Hin in 2001 – It’s notable that the tournament is in its 15th year now. The event which gathers all the polo enthusiasts and professionals across the world, receives donations from celebrities and capitalists who sometimes take part in the event which takes place in close proximity to luxury hotels in Bangkok such as the Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel. If you’re travelling to Bangkok this time next year make sure to witness it as these gentle giants are considered to be one of the symbols in Thailand, and require all the support they need.
