Ellaidhoo Maldives by Cinnamon Leads Sustainability Initiatives – Creating a Greener Tropical Paradise

In keeping with its commitment to sustainability, Ellaidhoo Maldives by Cinnamon has continued to implement key eco-friendly initiatives. To help in such projects and programmes, this private island Maldives beach resort recently announced that a marine biologist, Tharushi Pitigala from Sri Lanka, will be helping to lead its widespread ocean conservation work. Her resume includes being a conservationist at the Zoological Society of London, a consultant for a coral restoration project by the Sri Lankan Navy and an environmental journalist. As highlighted on the EIN Presswire website on 15th January 2024, She will be overseeing the sustainability projects of the other three resorts in Maldives that belong to Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts as well.

The Ellaidhoo island resort which has also received a Travel Life Gold Certification for its sustainability efforts has adopted several noteworthy initiatives over the years. This includes creating beach bags from recycled umbrellas, cultivating an organic vegetable and fruit farm for a ‘farm to plate’ concept, eradicating single-use plastics, harnessing solar energy, and placing artificial reef cubes to help marine life thrive. Apart from adopting a practical sustainability policy, the resort also looks to uplift local communities while creating a distinctive and eco-friendly guest experience.
