Emirates has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau to support the nation’s tourism and trade industries. The agreement, signed at the Arabian Travel Market 2023, outlines a range of initiatives aimed at promoting Sri Lanka’s tourism offerings. These efforts are part of the Emirates’ long-standing commitment to the South Asian Island nation, spanning 37 years.
The MoU signifies a deepening of the strategic cooperation between Emirates and Sri Lanka Tourism forged in 2022. It details joint initiatives and opportunities for collaboration to enhance each party’s marketing and promotional efforts, including developing programmes and special packages, engaging with strategic markets, and joint familiarisation trips to raise awareness of the destination’s offerings to audiences. Emirates will showcase Sri Lanka to customers across its global network and collaborate with agents in key markets to boost tourism to the Indian Ocean nation. The project will most likely cover many aspects of the island, such as accommodation options that have seen a major revival, including those such as Dambulla hotels, beachside resorts, and eco-friendly establishments such as Heritance Kandalama.
