Encouraging Signs for Maldives Tourism

Industry Begins to Pick Up

Showing encouraging signs that the tourism industry in the Maldives was picking up, the country celebrated achieving 100,000 arrivals last month after reopening its borders in July. This is a significant feat considering it has only been six months since tourists began to arrive and the numbers have been increasing every month in the Maldives. Villas are amongst the main accommodation options available to guests who can stay at private resorts such as Grand Park Kodhipparu, Maldives which operate under strict health and hygiene guidelines.

The tourism industry received a further boost when hotels and guesthouses in the greater Malé region were also permitted to open from 14th December 2020 onwards, once they obtained a special permit. Popular amongst visitors from Russia, India and the UK during this period, the country is one of the few destinations opened for American tourists as well.
