Etihad Airways lands A380 in Maldives to celebrate new Malé runway – Velena Airport Male opens its latest Runway

Etihad’s latest operation to Male saw the carrier operate an A380 the first of its kind to touch down within the Maldivian capital. The national carrier of the United Arab Emirates operates daily to ale to accommodate the ever-growing number of tourists visiting the island nation. Within the Maldives, resorts offer a wide variety of curated holidays to suit this influx of tourists and their different holidaying needs such as the sunset dolphin discovery cruise at the Kurumba Maldives.

The Velana Airport opened a 3,400 meter-long and 60-metre-wide runway the longest and the first in the region to accommodate the A380. This inaugural flight was piloted by first officer Ali Ahuson a Maldivian national.

The A380 has a capacity to hold over 490+ PAX within it four classes from the residence, 9 apartments, 70 business studios and 415 economy seats.
