Euronews Lists World’s Most Beautiful Train Rides – Kandy to Ella Line Included in List

In February this year, Euronews published on its website what it called the “9 most beautiful train journeys in the world” featuring amazing rail journeys that offer passengers unforgettable adventures. Amongst these notable experiences was the Kandy to Ella Line in Sri Lanka which for long has been a popular way to explore the island’s breathtaking hill country.

The journey begins in the hill capital where travellers looking for the best hotel Kandy has to offer can be based at properties like Hotel Topaz. Once having explored this enchanting city, one can take the train to another mountain destination, Ella; the journey which is amongst the world’s most scenic train rides takes a route amidst the slopes going past tea plantations, hills covered in lush greenery and rainforests. Other train journeys featured on the list included the Glacier Express in the Swiss Alps, the Hiram Bingham train to Machu Picchu, the Bergen Line in Norway and the West Coast Wilderness Railway in Tasmania.
