The traditional Bali Kites Festival took place on the 1st of August 2015. A festival which originated as a means of entertaining the gods in hope of a good harvesting season is a cheerful evening accompanied with live Balinese music and treats from local vendors. During the event tourists exploring the city were offered accommodation at Bali 5 Star hotels such asW Retreat & Spa Bali Seminyak which are located close to the Padanggalak beach.
Those who attended the festival had the opportunity to witness colourful traditional kites which are gigantic in size. From Janggan, 100 metres in length to the most common bebean kites that are made to resemble a fish, the kites showcased at the festival were of various designs. Groups from all across the island along with international teams were seen taking part at the festival and if you were unable to be a part of the event, make sure to attend the next festival which is more of a last minute deal as the weather conditions are taken into consideration when deciding on actual dates.
