According to a recent online article published on NewsIn.Asia, arrivals by Indian tourists to the Maldives have increased by 100%. In fact, India has become the second-largest market for the local tourism industry in terms of arrivals is only behind China. According to Ali Waheed, the Maldivian Tourism Minister, arrivals from India are predicted to show a twofold increase by year’s end which was linked to several reasons including better relations between the two countries.
While established Maldives resort options including the likes of Anantara Dhigu Maldives Resort continue to be a popular choice, new island resorts are being set up as well which will help to meet the growing demand. With Bollywood celebrities deciding to holiday in this island nation and Maldivian roadshows being held in India, this increase in Indian visitors is bound to keep rising.
