Fishermen’s Festival – A Celebration of Life by the Sea

Attracting thousands of enthusiasts from all over the world, the Fishermen’s Festival is held at the beautifully adorned Negombo beach amidst the excitement of its spectators. Held around late July, the Fishermen’s Festival is a traditional event that attracts visitors to watch local fishermen haul in their catch. Those staying at a Negombo hotel within easy reach of the shoreline such as Heritance Negombo, can take delight in watching the participants bring in different types of marine species such as crabs, prawns, varieties of fish and even sharks. Following the Fishermen’s Festival in July, Negombo is known for hosts other events such as the Fire-walking Festival, the National Festival of Kites and the World Spice Festival.
