Flying Taxis in 2025: UAE To Make Advancements in Short-Distance Urban Travel

Earlier this year, Archer Aviation received a multi-million dollar investment to develop a fleet of air taxis in Abu Dhabi, with the project slated to launch in 2025. The fleet will consist of piloted, short-distance aircrafts with a 4-passenger capacity, capable of consecutive trips requiring minimal stops. The California-based company has already begun the hiring and training process for the air taxis, which, according to the chief commanding officer Nikhil Goel, will most likely be in service within 18 to 24 months.

Although fares will be on the higher end compared to existing modes of travel, the manufacturers claim that the taxis will cut down a considerable amount of travel time, with record-breaking 10-minute flights from Abu Dhabi to Dubai, as well as Abu Dhabi resorts situated in remote areas that require longer travel on the road.
