Foreign Tourists Arrive in Phuket Once More – Other Thai Destinations Also Reopen

Following the reopening of its island borders on 1st July 2021, Phuket in Thailand has seen an increasing number of international tourist arrivals under the “Phuket Sandbox” scheme; tourists with a full COVID-19 vaccination arriving from an “approved” country, don’t have to quarantine. Instead, they must stay at a SHA+ certified property for at least seven days with options including some of the leading luxury hotels Phuket has to offer. Such properties like Anantara Layan Phuket Resort have stringent health and hygiene measures in place while staff are fully vaccinated too. After 14 full days, travellers are free to head to other parts of Thailand.

With the success of Phuket’s reopening, other parts of Thailand have also followed suit; this includes Koh Samui which became accessible for tourists from 15th July 2021. As part of the “Phuket Sandbox 7+7 Extension”, travellers can now spend their first seven days in Phuket, followed by the next seven days on islands like Koh Samui, Koh Phangan or Koh Tao.
