Ganesh Chaturthi Celebrations in Mauritius – Vibrant festivities

Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated by the Marathi people of the country. It is a festival that honours the Hindu god Ganesha and takes place over a period of 10 days. A statue of the god, often made of clay is installed in houses of devotees. On the final day, the statues are immersed in the river or sea across the island.
